Product Overview :

  1. Used2U is a mobile application created for students that allow students to buy and sell used items at reasonable price to others.
  2. This Platform designed specifically for students aiming to provide a one-stop solution for their academic needs.
  3. Used2U aims to enhance convenience,affordability and overall student experience.

Problem Statement :

  1. In the modern educational landscape, students face numerous challenges in accessing essential academic resources and lifestyle products that are both affordable and convenient.
  2. The nature of the current marketplace makes it difficult for students to find a comprehensive platform that offers a wide range of academic and lifestyle products in one convenient location.
  3. Many students after their studies are over they have a used books, furnitures etc . There is no dedicated platform for them to sell their used study stuffs

Role and Responsibility :

  • As a part of 3 month Ui/Ux design course at Designerrs Academy. I Worked on this project.
  • As the only UI/Ux designer on this project, My responsibilities Include everything end to end, following all the process of design thinking, doing user Research, creating final designs and usability tests.

Target Audience :

  • Students living in PG, Hostles, Students preparing for competitive exams near coaching centers.
  • Target Audience by the age consists of two 18 to 22 and 22 to 30 years old.

Design Process :

In Order to design a solution for this problem, I followed the Design thinking process

Empathize Phase :

User Research :

In User research, we have to collect feedbacks from user needs, behaviour and preferences. These insights will be helpfull in development of user platform that effectively address the challenges faced by the students in accessing the academic resources.

Quantitative Research :

In Quantitative research, I conducted a survey to observe the user concern. I gained some insights to make the platform more efficient to the users.

Qualitative Research :

In Qualitative research, I conducted a interview with 5 people to gather insights and to observe the user needs. This helps to make the right application for the users. Here are some following questions from the interview,

  1. How often do you purchase in online forum?
  2. What difficulties do you face when you moved out of your town for exam preparations?
  3. Share your experience while purchasing study material?
  4. Whether the Study material are easily accessable from your location?

Insights Gathered :

  1. I found out that that a significant percentage of students struggle with the high cost of textbooks. Many express a strong preference for affordable alternatives and are willing to explore second-hand options.
  2. Lack of online decdicated platform for students.
  3. Students prefer platforms that offer easy navigation, quick checkout processes, and reliable delivery options.
  4. Students find it difficult in searching specific study material.
  5. Lack of dedicated online platform to sell used study material.
  6. Students find it difficult in carrying books to their hometown after completing their studies.

Secondary Research :

In secondary research, I have gathered information from various sources to generate insights which helps in decision-making and product development.

Insights Gathered :

  • User find it difficult to find genuine seller.
  • User prefer selling products via olx, quikr etc.
  • User are worried about contacting seller.

Define Phase :

Affinity Mapping :

After the interview, I gathered all the user statement and then sorted them into groups. I divided into 4 categories: painpoints, fraustration, motivation and goals.

User Persona :

After collecting feedback from the user interview, I started creating user persona for the users i have interviewed, So it helps in the development and design of products and services because they help teams empathize with and understand the needs, preferences, and behaviors of target users.

Ideate Phase :

User Experience Map :

This user experience map, illustrates the journey of a student buying books in a physical bookstore, highlighting key touchpoints, user actions, and emotional states at each stage.

It helps teams deliver a seamless and engaging user experience that drives user satisfaction, loyalty, and business success.

User Flow :

Based on research Insights, I created a user flow diagram that displays all possible path that user can take.I have created for both the seller and the user.

Font Used : Roboto

Roboto font is a elegant and modern sans serif font. It is very neat and clean. It have more readability and variety of options. That’s why I used this font.

Usability Testing :

The Next Phase is the us ability testing which is conducted with several user to identify any usability issues, gather feedback on user experience, and assess the overall ease of use of the Used2U application.

Tasks :

  1. Log in to your account on Used2U.
  2. Search for a book you are interested in.
  3. Buy the book by entering the location and payment details.
  4. Sell a book by entering the description, photo and price.
  5. Provide feedback on your overall experience with Used2U.

Feedbacks :

The usability testing of Used2U provided valuable insights into the user experience of the platform. Participants found the navigation intuitive and were able to move through the application with ease. This feedback report serves as a guide for further development and refinement of Used2U to better meet the needs and expectations of its users.

Takeaways :

This is my first project, it helps me in understanding the user needs. It helps me to interact lot with the users to gain more insights which makes easier to build ui/ux of Used2U.The feedback report serves as a guide for further development and refinement of Used2U to better meet the needs and expectations of its users.
